7 months

Bear down!

Then Elsie goes down with him!

At 7 months...

Elsie is getting cuter and cuter. She is showing a lot of personality. She laughs and squeals off and on, all day long. Some of the things she finds funny are when I squat with her while holding her, dancing and singing along to music, tickles, goofiness from all of the people she loves, and sometimes nothing at all! She will just laugh or squeal out of nowhere.
She is about 27-28 inches long. She probably weighs about 18 pounds. She got a little lump in her breast which the doc says is normal and can be attributed to a surge of hormones. While she was at that doc appt. she weighed in at 18 lb 4 oz with clothes and diaper on.
Something we heard a lot over the holidays was "she is so healthy (chunky)". I think her chubbiness is so adorable and I can’t squeeze her enough.
She generally still takes 3 naps but right now she is on her 2nd nap which is lasting almost 3 hours so she will be done for the day after this. Sometimes she takes 2 long naps. (I got a nice nap in today too while she slept.) I am home on winter break with her right now. She starts daycare soon. I am nervous but sure it will be fine.
Elsie is starting to be quite the mover. She goes from sitting up to laying on her belly or on her back in the opposite direction. In other words, she nose dives to the floor and then rolls over. She recently started rolling 360s.
She eats milk 4 -5 times a day now, probably has 4 more often than 5. It is about 50-50 breastmilk and formula at this point. She eats solids 3 times a day with cereal always being the first one. I've been pretty slow lately at introducing new foods. Apple might be the only new thing she has had since I last updated.
She had fun at Christmas. Loved opening up presents because she wanted to eat the paper!
Her bald spot in back is growing in.
Loves to jumperoo. Probably goes in there 1-3 times a day for 10-20 minutes at a time. She likes to jump when people are holding her too.
Has been very poopy for the last month or so. I think the increase in formula may have regulated her more. She generally has at least 2 poops a day.
So all of the info. On the internet says that reflux for babies generally ends between 7-12 months so she is in that range now! But she definitely still spits up on a regular basis. She is a happy spitter now though – its just mom and dad who aren’t happy about it now.
She grabs everything in sight now. If it is within reach, it is hers. Especially if you are holding it, she will want to grab it. If I am holding her and take a drink of water, she gets all excited and wants one too even though most of it goes on her shirt. I think we are going to try a sippy for water soon. She loves to play with my necklaces and will eat any paper in sight if I let her have a taste.
Loves to put everything into her mouth and loves tags. The taggy blanket makes so much sense now because she loves to investigate each little ribbon.
Loves to move her arms around and shake things. Andrew always laughs because if she is shaking a toy with one hand the other arm has to move at least a little too.
She isn't super scheduled. For about a week she was like clockwork. Bed at 8, wake at 6, naps at 8:30, 12ish, and 4. But if she gets on a routine for a while then she will sleep later or get up in the night to throw it off. Last night she woke at 4 to eat, back to bed until 6:30 but then fell asleep again on me in my bed from 7-7:45. Then napped today from 10-11 and now from 1-4:10. Which means I need to go get her from her crib now because I am hearing her little noises!

These are all pictures from the day that Elsie turned 6 months eventhough she is now 6.5 months.

At 6 months - Elsie weighed in at the doctor at 16 pounds 6 oz. I think length was 24 inches? I can't find the sheet where it is written!
At 6 months - Elsie was sitting for a few minutes by herself, now she sits by herself and also can maneuver around a bit and reach for toys and what not.
She was eating a handful of solids. Favorites are squash and pears. She eats oatmeal in the morning. Other foods she eats now include green beans, pumpkins, and maybe that is it? She is going to try peas today. She has had bananas and avocado as well but didnt take to those right away.
At 6 months she started to have formula supplements instead of just breastmilk. She likes formula just as much as breastmilk. She loves to eat!
She still spits up eventhough she had a nice break for a little bit where it was getting much better. It may have something to do with Target brand formula?
Her favorite things to play with are strings, hair, and her yellow and orange nuk. SHe is very funny with her nuk and will try to fit the whole entire thing in her mouth and will turn it around and stuff. It is more of a toy now then a pacifier.
Just today I tried to put her down for a nap without her nuk and at one point she gave a little cry that turned into a laugh. Then she just started laughing hysterically and I laughed back at her. WE both got into this laughing fit for a minute or two. She is a cutie! I went to get a paci for her and she fell asleep within a minute. She still takes 2 shorter naps and one longer one. Every once in a while just two longer naps for the day.
She has been less consistent with night sleep lately and will wake up during the night again sometimes. Her dad and I are not fans of this!
No teeth yet.
She is currently sitting on my lap and very content just playing with my sweatshirt zipper.
Oh - something I forgot to write at 5 months is that her right eye completely cleared up. Her left eye still gets the crustys sometimes but is looking much better.
That is all to report for now - hopefully I will write again soon for 7 months!
