I love you!
That is my little rhyme I like to say to you, Cora. Nicknames I call you right now include Cora Bora, Coras, Chicken Little, and Chickie Chickie. Matthew calls you some of the same but also Favorite Daughter (he calls Elsie that too) and Precious. Elsie mostly just calls you "Baby".
Elsie is so good with you lately and you love her in return. Yesterday the two of you got in a giggle fit and were just laughing at each other. Sometimes Elsie can be a little rough with you but she is still learning how to play with a bay that isn't a doll! She will run her hands all over you to tickle you or "help" you roll over which is more of a quick flop. Whenever I say "be gentle Elsie" she will start patting you on the head.
Cora, I got home from work today to see you like this.....
.....and couldn't get over how big you suddenly looked. On your 4 month birthday, you suddenly looked like such an older baby. Maybe it is just the short sleeves and different outfit? You are starting to be my big girl!
You often give us great big grins but I couldn't get one out of you this day, maybe because you were full of gas. 20 minutes after this little photo session, you were letting them rip on your dad! This was the biggest smile I got out of you for our photo session...
At 4 months.....
I can't be sure how much Cora weighs. She is definitely getting bigger though and wears all 6 month clothes. She has already grown out of some 6 month shirts because they don't fit due to the length of the torso. There are also some 6 month pants she is just swimming in though.
Cora's 3rd month of life wasn't a great one for sleep. She reverted back to getting up twice a night on most nights, some nights even more than twice. She would wake up at 1, 4, and sometimes not make it to 6:30 before she got up again. I think this was often due to gas and tummy issues rather than hunger. For the last week or so, I have been giving Cora gripe water from time to time and on those nights she only wakes up once. I am hoping the trend of once a night feedings continues!
Another tendency that Cora had over her 3rd month was spitting up. It became something she did on a daily basis.
Daytime feedings are usually around the following times 6:30, 9:30, 12:30, 3:30, and 6:30 - give or take a half hour on each one.
Over the last month, Cora has started to have a simple bedtime routine and goes to bed close to the same time Elsie does. She goes to bed 2 hours after waking up from her last nap which usually ends up being between 7:30-8:15. I change her into her PJs with the lights turned down, put her in her sleep sack, play her CD and bounce her to the music. She goes down in 5-15 minutes and over this month I may try and shorten that up and put her down drowsy/awake.
Cora has started to be a little mover. She now rolls over in both directions. Matthew and I have seen her go back to tummy about 4 times but only tummy to back once. She often rolls from back to her side. She likes to spin in her crib. I will put her down facing one direction and come back later to find she has spun herself around to face the other way.
She likes to play with toys now. She plays with her crinkly elephant quite a bit. She also likes to be set under her toy mat and will pull on the toys there a little.
She hasn't grabbed her feet yet but will put them in the air to play when she is laying on her back.
She has spent most of this last month with her uncle Andrew. He has been watching her full time before she goes to daycare. I am so thankful he has been able to help out and I can tell they have become quite the little buddies. She will start going to daycare on the 17th and Bapa (as Elsie calls him) will be watching her until then.
She likes to talk by making long strings of "ehhhhhhhhhhh" like a little kid who keeps their voice going when driving over a bumpy road. She will make this sound repeatedly while smiling.
Naps haven't been consistent lengths. She used to have 2 short ones and 1 long one but recently they have all been short (30-45 minutes) since she is taking them all in the crib to get ready for daycare. Sometimes her crib naps will be up to 2 hours though.
We are all so in love with our little baby Cora!
