Cora 7 months

The cutie patootie Cora Bora is 7 months old!  It is now a week past her 7 month birthday and a lot has changed in this last week.

Cora is still the same sweet little baby she has always been.  She likes to share smiles with everyone and if she catches a glimpse of you smiling at her she will smile right back.

Talks a ton, often making the "babababa...ba....ba....baba" sounds or high pitched squeals.

Although she is a sweetie pie she is starting to develop a little sass as well.  She will screech at you if you take something away that she was really enjoying playing with.

She wants to get her hands on everything.  If I pick something up while holding her, she immediately tries to take it from me.

With that motivation to grab things comes more movement on the ground too.  She still rolls to get where she wants to go but has now started to do a little army crawl if she needs to get a little bit closer to her destination.

Sometimes pushes herself up to her hands and feet or does a downward dog.

She has taken to solids and eats 3 little baby food meals a day.  Once she made the shift she got constipated but we cut out the apples and bananas and went heavy on pears and prunes and that cleared her up.  Other foods she eats are oatmeal, peas, and sweet potatos.

Cora's 7th month was an interesting one for sleep.  She was becoming less consistent at staying asleep after her nightly routine.  It was becoming routine for her to wake up again and force us to go bounce her again or me to squeeze in another feeding.  We had decided we'd deal with it after our trips to Fergus and the cabin.  On the trip to Fergus it got MUCH worse.  She just would not allow us to put her down in the pack and play.  The first night she slept in my arms.  The 2nd and 3rd night she spent a portion sleeping in the pack and play and a portion of the night with me holding her.  Her sleeping was so rough that we knew something had to immediately change and we decided to sleep train/ferberize her when we got home that night.  It has made a huge difference.  The first night she cried for 20 minutes straight and then another 10 minutes off and on.  As the naps and nights have gone, she cries less and is faster at falling asleep.  She now goes to bed between 7:30-8 just like her sister does.  She wakes up once in the early morning to eat anywhere from 5-6.  If it is closer to 6 she isn't always able to get back to sleep when I lay her back down.  At the cabin she slept very well but was getting up earlier in the night to eat.

Cora still sits up a lot to play but still hasn't gotten that great of control to get back to the floor, she still topples over or backward a lot.

Laughs the hardest when I play peekaboo games with her and make funny faces or when Elsie rough houses with her.

She likes the jumperoo and her favorite part is moving the discs back and forth on it, she will concentrate hard on that.

She is a cuddly little girl who likes to be held if you are willing.  She loves to play with hair and pinch skin - she actually has a pretty fierce pinch.

Likes to be outside and is very content to sit on a blanket and look around.

She still isn't on a regular schedule but I see that evening out now more that she is sleeping better.  She nurses every 3-4 hours with 4-5 times total.  Sometimes she will take 2 solid naps but often times still ends up taking 3.

Now without further adieu....pics of my sweet girl on her 7 month bday and 7th month of life.....we are so blessed to have this girl in our lives......

Jekyll and Hyde

We have a crazy munchkin in the house!  Having this little 2 year old around has brought up  more joys and more challenges.  She is a little Jekyll and Hyde.

Some things her Jekyll side does....

- Randomly says "I wove you mommy"
- Insists on giving big huge hugs and kisses to everyone in the morning
- Baby talks to her little sister and also gives her lots of hugs and kisses.
- She tries to act like a mini me and will imitate the things I do.  She'll fold clothes, put away dishes, help comfort Cora by singing to her, etc.  The cutest was the other day when she put her baby to bed in her room, tucked her in with the blankets, started the music, told the baby she loved her and then closed the door saying "shhhh"
- The other day Cora was laying on a pillow and she brought a blanket to her and covered her up.  Then she brought her own blanket and pillow along with a stack of books and proceeded to "read" the books to Cora.  (She stopped reading when I tried to take a pic of it),

Some things her Hyde side does......

- Gives me a hard time about coming back inside or leaving fun places like the library.  At our house she may actually run down the street, across the street, or to someone else's yard.  This is a work in progress.
- Has started to take off her pants and diapers when they are wet.  Today she was running around with a bare bottom.  The other day we woke up to her sleeping in a wet crib with no bottoms.
- Matthew let her play with his money clip the other day and she threw the cards down the vent.  Matthew and I came up with a system/contraption where we were able to get about 3 out.
- She has taken to saying "No!" with a stern face and a pointed finger to Cora and I at silly times like when Cora touches her skin.
- She will get very sad over little things like me backing her chair away from the table before she was quite ready.

Whether it is Jekyll or Hyde we love her to bits!
