Alaina 4 months

Alaina's 4 month birthday snuck up on me, so I missed taking photos of her by a day. I took photos of her with her monster but our computer is sooooooo slow so I will have to put those up later. The above photo is from the same day when her sisters wanted to get in on the action. Her sisters love her to bits and she loves them right back. Elsie is especially sweet with her and likes to sing her songs, talk, and play with her.

At 4 months, I have been getting that feeling that my baby is getting big. I had the same feeling with each of the other girls. They are suddenly less fragile and more meaty at this age....which I love. Meaty babies through toddling walkers are my favorite!

Alaina is sweet sweet sweet. She is pretty easygoing and cute as can be. She easily gives smiles and attention to others. She doesn't laugh a whole lot but when Matthew gets her ready for bed, he always tickles her and gives her a laughing fit.

She still likes to play with her hands but is now grabbing, reaching for, and playing with toys too! One of her favorites is her little taggy blanket that she got as a gift. She likes to look at herself in the play mirror too.

This past month was the month of sickness for Alaina. I think she has been sick almost the whole time! Hone came down with a little cold just as all of the daycare kids were getting over it. That subsided mid-month and then she got an ear infection. Right over she finished medication for that, she came down with a bad cough with lots of gook and is first now getting over that. Hopefully April will be better to her!

She still isn't super consistent with a sleep schedule. She goes to bed between 8-9:30, depending on when she last woke up. Due to sickness, there have been some tough nights where she keeps waking up every couple hours. Just when I think I can't take it anymore she will thrown a night with one wake up, to give us both some needed rest. The fact that she was sleeping through the night sometimes seems like a distant memory.

She generally eats 5 times during the day and at least once during the night. Her naps are usually 30-60 minutes, unless I let her stay in her swing or car seat for a nap....then she will sleep longer.

She is starting to hold herself up higher in tummy time, she generally likes tummy time also....hasn't shown any signs if trying to roll over yet.

Her nicknames right now are Lainsy Janes and bubba. Elsie will call her cutie bubba or cutie bebe.

She loves to blow raspberries.

Some more pics of the little lady over the last month...

While the big girls were at the cabin with grandma and grandpa, Alaina and I had some bonding time. She also played with Bella while we babysat for a bit and had a dinner date with Mommy and Daddy...

Little beauty...she gets a little dimple when she smiles big....

A rough night....

Being silly with her sister....

Giving me smiles and giggles on my birthday...

Bella is her buddy and is slightly infatuated...

A tired morning....I had pulled Lainey into bed to eat and then we fell back to sleep. The big girls joined us once they woke up....

Why does this blog cut off my pictures?? Gotta figure that one out!

Lainey 3 Months

That's a picture of my little Lainey right at this moment. She fell asleep during tummy time and I just let her be. Now she is sleeping next to me and all the daycare kids are napping and there are a few moments of total silence in the house. Lainey turned 3 months last week and is turning from my itty bitty baby to my big baby.

At 3 months...

Lainey is smiley and giggle. She laughs during diaper changes and other random moments. Whenever I try to recreate the situation to get her to laugh more, it never works. She also loves to coo and talk to us, it is the cutest.

Loves her sisters and the daycare kids. Sometimes I have to shoo them all away so they don't smother her but other times they sit and talk or sing to her and she smiles right along.

Has started to sleep through the night on occasion or wake up just once to eat. We were in a bad routine for a few weeks during February. I would take 20 minutes to get her to sleep and then about a half hour later she would wake back up to eat and then fall asleep but not want to be put down. I would be in and out of her room for 1-2 hours of her falling asleep and then waking back up....so even though I would start the process of getting her to bed by 8, I wasn't able to get to sleep myself until between 10-11. This all was around the same time she grew out of her newborn swaddle sack. I was constantly second guessing myself about what she needed. Is it that she wants to be swaddled tight, or not swaddled at all, or doesn't need that feeding, or should I feed her more before bed, or does she need to just be awake for more time before bed, and on? I finally decided to start with no longer allowing her to take naps in her chair or the swing one day. I had her take all but one nap in her crib and pack and play. That naturally had her getting up more as well and squeezing in another daytime feeding. After that first day of trying it, she ended up sleeping through the night! So now I am sticking to that routine and also waking her up to eat before 7 if she hasn't gotten up already. Now she generally eats 5 times a day and once during the night. Her naps are all shorter 20-45 minutes and then I allow her to take one in the swing (turned off) that lasts longer, like 2 hours. I wish I had more time to work on getting her to nap more in her crib but it is really difficult to do while doing daycare.

She is long and has really been filling out these last few weeks. She doesn't fit in 3 month PJs and is starting to wear more 6 month clothes overall.

Has started to play with things more. She likes to grab cloth, little blankets, or toys. She is starting to bat at toys under her play gym or in her chair. Also really likes to eat her hands lately...

I'm just loving this babe of mine! (Will add photos from her 3 month bday later!)
