Elsie is such a busy body these days that I have not found the time to write this blog until now. So at (a little over) 11 months…….Elsie is…
Walking along furniture all of the time
When standing somewhere she now lowers her little butt to sit down. She used to just let go and let herself plop.
Just last week she started walking with a walk along toy....so this technically started after she turned 11 months.
Loves to explore, opens anything she can, reaches for everything, opens cabinets and drawers and has slammed her fingers a few times
Is now climbing the stairs. A few weeks prior I had seen her climb stairs in order to reach something. Well the other day she was playing in the living room and I ran upstairs to get changed. I didn't realize it but Elsie followed me. When I came out to come back downstairs, Elsie was climbing and was already 4 stairs up, it scared the poo out of me.
She LOVES books. Book is still a common word she uses. She uses the word at random like when she wakes up the first thing she usually says is, "a book". But she also sees books, paper, and magazines and says "book". She looks at books throughout the day and the cutest thing is that she now will watch more when someone is reading to her - but sometimes she will also just try to steal the book away and explore it.
She finger feeds herself and loves food.
It is hard to say what her favorite foods are because she loves everything but I would say favorites are spaghetti/hotdish and butter toast. She mostly eats table food now but we still do purees when we need to squeeze in more fruits and veggies. I shared my yogurt with her once but she went so crazy every moment that she didn’t have some in her mouth, and again when I took it away that I haven’t given it back since.
She still has 4 bottles a day but rarely finishes her bottles anymore. Her first bottle is 4 oz. and at daycare she has 6-10 oz. total and then she has a bottle at night that is 6-8 oz.
She has been a sick little duck and we are wondering if she has allergies. About a week ago she had a head cold where she was sneezing constantly and got all puffy in her face. She has been having a runny nose and ear infections off and on.
She loves her parents and will give us the sweetest little cuddles sometimes but other times is like, "no thanks, I am happy with what I am doing and don't need a hug from you" and just pushes us away.
She will go to anyone and socialize with anyone. We ran into some old college friends shopping the other day who we had never seen, and Elsie went to her just fine.
She will match anyone's smile.
THe most common things we hear from others about her are that she is so happy and that she has such pretty blue eyes.
She is still napping and sleeping well. About 7:45-6:45 at night 1/1.5 hours in the morning and 2 or more in the afternoon.
Still no teeth!
She loves to take things out and part. She will pull things out of a bucket or out of her path and throw them behind her. She loves to take a basket of clean clothes and throw them behind her a handful at a time until it is empty. She is starting to put things in now too or back in the place. Sometimes she will put toys or things back in her basket. She will also put the little egg things back on the merry go round or slide on her play thing.
For a little while she was crawling into whatever room I was in at the moment but now she just wants to go explore wherever she can and find new stuff.
Lately she has been saying “Ah Duh” for All Done. She will say it after a bottle or mimic us when we say it. She will mimic the sounds of other words at random.
At the current moment, she is repeatedly putting the head of a rubber duck in her mouth and saying “mmm mmm” while it is in there. Now she is singing. Now back to the duck.
I could go on and on because Elsie is a cutie patootie who is constantly changing but I will end this before she is a year!
