I actually pulled out my phone/camera a little bit over the weekend! I have gotten so used to documenting our daycare days that I have been generally slacking when daycare is closed. This past weekend was the long weekend for 4th of July and here is how we spent it...
On Thursday night we went to Myla's first birthday party. Elsie had so much fun playing with Holden and the other kids. They played on the water slide, played with all the fun toys inside, had access to treats, got to watch Myla open presents, and ran around/in a tent at the end of the night. When we got in the car to go home Elsie said, "mom, that house is so much fun!"

We headed up to my parents cabin the next day. Went on a pontoon ride and had a nice lunch. The girls took nice long naps while we read and played games. That night Matthew and I made dinner for everyone then we had a little dance party in the cabin before a group of us headed to the fireworks...

This was Elsie's first time seeing the fireworks and she did great. There were sporadic fireworks going off on the way there and as we waited so that helped the anticipation.

Her first reaction at seeing the intro...

Her face through the first half...(not sure why I am making a weird face)...

My favorite part was that a little over halfway through they put different colored lights all over the lake and then they all hurst up into fireworks. We were thinking that was the beginning of the finale and started telling Elsie it was almost over. However, they went back into lighting off fireworks at random so she did start to get a little antsy during that part.

When the grand finale happened and they were lighting off a bajillion fireworks at once, Elsie got scared and covered her eyes at first.

Ten she was ready to peek and thought it was pretty cool.

The next day Elsie went fishing with grandpa again and caught her second fish of the weekend.

We all hung out at the end of the dock/on the pontoon and lounged and played. I didn't think the girls would go swimming at all because the water was still pretty cold but Elsie ended up wanting to go in with grandpa. She stayed in there with him for quite a while.

Eventually Andrew jumped in and splashed Elsie so she had a good time following him and giving him splashes too.

The girls took excellent naps again that afternoon (we lucked out) and Elsie helped Nana make short cakes when she got up.

Twt night Sarah and Andrew made an excellent dinner of kabobs and corn on the cob. Mom and Elsie presented us with strawberry shortcake for dessert. We then also had a fire and made s'mores. The adults stayed up and played some games. Good times.
Looks like you all had a great time!!! I love the pics of Elsie with her eyes closed and then peeking. So cute!
