At 2 months, Cora…
-
Gives us lots of smiles every day. She has also laughed a handful of times when
someone is talking to her or playing with her.
She usually has a period in the morning and one in the evening where she
reacts really happily to people interacting with her.
-
Makes funny little squeals/coos.
-
Does not mind tummy time. She lays on the floor, on her tummy, at least
twice a day. She can also hold her chest
up off the floor already.
-
Is a cuddler.
She likes to grab onto me and my hair, etc. If she is upset, she will calm down pretty
quickly when she is held. We like to
snuggle.
-
Is a very relaxed baby. She goes with the flow.
-
Can get very gassy. In the evening or during the night, I always
hold her with her legs to her tummy and she lets it all loose. Occasionally I will give her gas drops if she
is particulary umcomfortable. If she is
not eating or sleeping well, gas is usually the culprit.
-
Speaking of bowels: an interesting/weird thing is that she has a
green poop every night. She has multiple
poops during the day/night that are your usual tan color but she has at least
one green one each night right before she goes to bed.
-
Hardly ever spits up. It is crazy because with Elsie we went
through many burps cloths each day. With
Cora, I still have a bag full in storage because we rarely need to use them.
-
Sleep: the longest stretch Cora has gone between
feedings has been 7.75 hours. The
average over the last week or so has been between 5-7 hours. She has her last feeding between 7:30-8:30 and
usually wakes up to eat between 1-3.
After that feeding she usually goes back down for 2-3.5 hours. She usually wakes up for the day between
6:30-7:30.
-
I
haven’t yet started any nap schedule but have noticed lately that Cora will
have a shorter nap in the morning, about 30 minutes and then sleeps through a
lot of the afternoon. Sometimes she will
take a 4 hour nap, only waking once to eat.
-
She still sleeps in the bassinet in our room but
I am going to transition her to the crib this week sometime and then start naps
there as well.
-
Eating:
Cora generally wakes twice in the night to eat and eats about 6 times
during the day for 8 feedings total. She
has had a bottle on two occasions. The
first time, my mom fed her a 4 oz bottle and she said it went super well. The second time they watched her and tried
giving her a bottle, she just wouldn’t take it.
They tried for about an hour and at the end she ended up taking about a
half ounce. When we got home, Matthew
was able to get her to eat 1.5 more ounces but then she refused it again after
being burped….so I ended up dumping 2 ounces of breastmilk. I know we need to start practicing the bottle
more at some point.
-
Won’t take a pacifier. We bought some after she turned 6 weeks and she
hated them. I bought another kind after
that and she used it the first time but has refused ever since. It would be nice to have something she could
use to help soothe her in the night or when I can’t feed her right away but oh
well.
-
Her eyes are still a deep blue color. She continues to look cross eyed at times but
also does a really good job focusing on our faces when we talk to her. The doc said she may just have a weak muscle
on the one side and let’s continue to watch to see how things change.
