I have made a "lullaby CD" during each pregnancy, for that baby. These CDs have really always been both for me and the baby. They have pretty lullabies but also songs that are really speaking to me at the time. I started with Elsie so that she could have consistent music that she could listen to both in and out of the belly. I would go on walks by myself with the playlist going and one ear bud on my belly with the other in my ear. For Cora, I chose some of my favorite songs that I would listen to while working on paperwork and hear on my commute that made me think of her. I spent so much time during the early part of the girls lives listening to these CDs during the night, getting them to sleep or back to sleep. Because I might lose this information (CDs break, computer might crash), I want to record it here for posterity...
Elsie's playlist....
Cora's playlist....
The start of Baby #3....
A couple of my favorites from each playlist....
Little Potato- I used to sing this to my little brother. When Matthew and I were dating, we would sing it to each other (cheesy). Naturally, when we became pregnant with Mushy, we started singing it to the belly. I sang Elsie to sleep every night with this song.
Baby by Dave Matthews - also sang this one to Elsie all of the time. Puts me back into the rocking chair in a dark room.
Home by Phillip Phillips - 100% Cora's song. I am not sure I could ever get sick of this song because of how much it means to me. It can still make me cry! It was on the radio all the time when I was pregnant with Cora and always made me weep and feel so connected to her. "Just know you're not alone, I'm gonna make this place your home"
Better Than Love by Griffin House - Also made me feel connected to my baby girl and was playing while I was pushing Cora out....the line "you will always be my girl" playing during a pivotal moment.
Little Liza Jane by Elizabeth Mitchell - fell in love with this song the first time I heard it on pandora. I cried with the thought of meeting my third baby someday.
Sight of the Sun by Fun - completely my favorite song right now and I just love the band Fun so much. It's a comforting song to me. During this pregnancy I have been actively trying not to let life's anxieties trouble me so much, so I just love the chorus in this.
