She...
- Is 1 going on 4. She likes to act like a big girl and wants to do anything her sister does.
- Sometimes talks like she is a big girl...4+ word sentences are not uncommon for her. She knows how to get her point across and communicate her needs.
- Makes the funniest "cheese" faces (as evidenced in the left photo).
- Does not like to listen to directions when she doesn't want to. Will calmly say "no" and continue doing her own thing.
- Loves to read books. She will "read" aloud to book after book and sometimes gets some actual words or rhythms correct from the book.
- Is waking up from a nap right now and saying that she went poopy. She tells us when she goes or has to go, "diaper change mommy". Had a string of days over the summer where she was going potty on the toilet on her own accord. However, she decided that she wasn't ready to train herself and I've decided I am (probably) not going to train her until after the baby comes.
- Refers to me as Maggie at least half the time (I am not a fan of this).
- Will ask to look at the baby in my belly while pulling my shirt up and then cuddles onto my belly, giving the baby hugs.
She....
- Had her first actual day of preschool today. Everything went off without a hitch and she said that she had fun and is looking forward to going back on Thursday. It makes my heart melt to see her getting to this age. It is such a joy to watch her.
- These two photos above are from the parent-child day that Matthew went to with her last week. Matthew said that went well also. My favorite story is that Matthew said the parents all watched the kids sit on the carpet and then do a Smartboard activity. He said the kids were all rushing up to the board to give it a try and Elsie sat back and watched. When everyone had sat back down the teacher asked if anyone else wanted to do it. At that point Elsie quietly raised her hand and waited for the teacher to call on her. So cute!

- Besides preschool, she is going through lots of little transitions in life right now. Daycare dynamics have changed and the little girl that was one of her best friends has moved to another place. She has said that she misses her a couple of times. Every night, before bed, Elsie and I say prayers. She often will say what she is thankful for and sometimes goes on and on "Mommy, daddy, my pillow, the puppies, baby in your belly....etc." A couple nights after this little girl's last day Elsie prayed for two things - her aunt and uncle to have a baby and for Macy at the new place. It made my heart melt to hear her putting her friend first.
- Is little miss Independent and wants to do more and more on her own.
- Suprises me sometimes with the things she knows and comes up with. She listens to the things we talk about, can repeat them, and will chime in when she knows we are talking about her.
- Tells me lately that I am "the best mom in the whole world!" Or "the best mom ever!" And I'm not sure where she got this from but I'll take it!
- Has been such a great big sister lately.
They...
- Have actually been playing well together recently. Elsie will come up with ideas on things they should do and Cora will follow along with an "oh" or an "ok Elsie".
- A little while ago I told Elsie that she really has to be a good big sister becasue she is teaching Cora how to do it. Cora isn't a big sister yet but will be one soon and is learning from her. This seemed to click with Elsie. That is when she started giving Cora a baby doll and saying that it is her little sister that she needs to help take care of. Elsie will tell her what to do with the baby and Cora will seek out this doll and say "where little sister?"
- These phrases are frequently heard in our house in the evening...
"Elsieeee whea ahh youuuu?"
"I Right here!"
____
"Cora where are you?"
"Right here. I coming!"
- Elsie actually will pull or push Cora up onto the couch with her. It is quite the sight and I am suprised Cora goes along with it.
He...
- fulfilled my request of getting a Mcflurry for me after his meeting last night
- Has some sort of community meeting at least once a week. He is on the Church finance board and now the community Facilities task force, then also goes to Rotary meetings during the day with some scheduled events at night.
- Is a great daddy and husband. Although cheesy, I am not lying when I say he gets better all the time. He takes my chaotic moods with a grain of salt when he gets home from work and dives in to help finish up with supper, clean, or entertain the girls.
- Shares a love of singing with Elsie and has taught her to put on "shows" with the guitar. She will sit and play the guitar and sing while the rest of us watch and then clap and ask for encores. The only problem is that now she demands complete silence when she is putting on a "show".
She....
- Is 28 weeks pregnant and not so great at taking selfie shots. (these 3 photos were accomplished after many attempts).
- Is heavy into the nesting phase of pregnancy. Always trying to get things done with a list of things on my mind that was left unaccomplished at the end of the day.
- Is really enjoying doing daycare and having fun with all of the kids. Loves planning activities and getting loved on by little ones. This year things have started to sink into a normal routine.
- Loved summer but is looking forward to the open schedule that fall brings, the cool weather for this pregnant bod, more family activities, and home projects like decorating the (last) nursery and organizing the storage rooms.
- Is feeling very blessed by life right now!
